Coming from a small town in Quebec, the son of a paper mill worker, Brian Mulroney worked his way up the ladder to become a political sensation, and eventually the Prime Minister of Canada. But the journey to get there was no easy one, as he entered into politics in an era when the Progressive Conservatives barely held enough seats in parliament to be considered a national party, when the Quebec separatist movement had divided the country, and when the more traditional wing of the party refused to change their mind and progress towards a new vision of the country.
