With three children who never visit, Nora (Sheila McCarthy) is unsurprised, yet still disappointed when she is shipped off to the Shady Rest Retirement Facility. Feeling hopeless and dejected, Nora resigns herself to a lonely existence in the care home. But then, she meets Edna (Mary Walsh of This Hour Has 22 Minutes), a woman who finds humor in terrorizing the staff and her fellow residents by regaling them with stories of her extremely colorful past. Although at first Edna makes Nora a target of her mischief, the two quickly become friends due to their shared lust for life and their disdain for “chair-xercise”. As Edna plots an escape from the home, her memory begins to fail, leaving Nora to remind her that there is still life to live.
