In the aftermath of the Iraq War, a former U.S. Marine seeks out the Iraqi family whose lives were devastated by an act of violence he was involved in, hoping to find some form of forgiveness. But what does it mean to seek atonement from the people who have to live with the consequences of your actions? And further than that, what does it mean for the survivors who have to sit across from the man who was responsible for the deaths of their loved ones? Is atonement or forgiveness ever truly possible?
