Maggie’s Wake is a dynamic band from Southwestern Ontario that blends traditional folk with contemporary styles such as jazz, Americana, and classic country. The group is dedicated to revitalizing the rich history of folk music through a fresh and original sound that honors their heritage while engaging and inspiring audiences. Their performances are known for their passion, storytelling, and joyful energy.
The band features award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tara Dunphy on lead vocals and various instruments, alongside internationally recognized fiddler Lindsay Schindler. Supporting them are Andrew Kosty on bass, Ken Palmer on guitar, with frequent guest musicians on piano, accordion, and percussion. Maggie’s Wake received the 2023 Forest City London Music Award for Best Folk Group and performed as an Official Showcase Artist at Folk Alliance International. Their self-titled debut album, released in March 2024, has been met with critical acclaim, and the band continues to attract audiences with sold-out shows across theatres and concert halls.
