Don Ross, acclaimed guitarist and composer, has released his 18th solo album, WATER—his 21st overall, including collaborations. Funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign that reached its goal in just 28 hours, the album showcases an impressive roster of collaborators, including Bruce Cockburn, Michael Manring, Sean Hall, Brooke Miller, The Atlantic String Machine, and even the 70-piece City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The cover art features the work of Mi’kmaw artist Alan Syliboy, reflecting Ross’s heritage as the son of a Mi’kmaw mother and a Scottish father.
Since launching his career in 1988, Ross has become a pioneering figure in modern fingerstyle guitar, celebrated for his virtuosic playing and innovative compositions. He remains the only two-time winner of the US National Fingerpick Guitar Championship and has released influential recordings with labels including Duke Street, Sony/Columbia, Narada, and CandyRat Records. His music has reached audiences worldwide through extensive touring across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, while his compositions, such as Passion Session have become cornerstones of the solo guitar repertoire. In addition to recording and touring, Ross has expanded into orchestration and scoring for film, television, and video games, cementing his reputation as one of Canada’s most versatile and respected musicians.
