Born in the U.S. and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Suzie Ungerleider began performing under the name Oh Susanna in the mid-1990s, earning instant acclaim for her striking voice and poetic songwriting. Over more than two decades and ten critically acclaimed albums, her emotive vocals, captivating performances, and fierce songwriting have garnered numerous accolades, including a Genie Award for Best Original Song and a Canadian Folk Music Award for English Songwriter of the Year, along with multiple JUNO and Folk Music Award nominations. In 2021, Suzie retired her stage name Oh Susanna and released My Name is Suzie Ungerleider, a JUNO-nominated album that received widespread airplay and praise across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Europe.
Now in 2025, Suzie is preparing to release Among the Evergreens, her most personal and introspective album to date. The collection explores themes of adolescence, loss of innocence, motherhood, survival, and self-discovery. In February 2025, she released the three-song EP The Wilds, offering a glimpse into the full album’s sound ahead of its June release. After years as a key figure in Toronto’s roots music scene, Suzie now resides in her hometown of Vancouver with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Willow.
