Bruce McCulloch, best known as a founding member of The Kids in the Hall, is an accomplished comedian, writer, director, and musician whose work spans television, theatre, and film. An Albertan punk turned comedy icon, Bruce began his career at Calgary’s Loose Moose Theatre, where he met collaborator Mark McKinney before moving to Toronto to form The Kids in the Hall. His television credits include writing, performing, and directing on acclaimed shows such as Saturday Night Live, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Schitt’s Creek, Trailer Park Boys, and CBC’s TallBoyz. He also created and starred in Young Drunk Punk and Death Comes to Town, and helped revive The Kids in the Hall for Amazon in 2022.
Bruce’s latest live show, Dark Purple Slice, showcases his signature blend of dark humor and heartfelt storytelling, featuring plenty of his trademark musical comedy. The show follows his previous one-man productions like Tales of Bravery & Stupidity, Two-Headed Roommate, and Slightly Bigger, as well as his comedy albums Shame-based Man and The Drunk Baby Project. Beyond the stage, Bruce has written or directed several feature films, including Dog Park, Superstar, Stealing Harvard, and Comeback Season, and has published a memoir, Let’s Start a Riot, through HarperCollins.
