Willow Switch is a dark folk duo blending tradition with subversion through ambient, haunting melodies. Comprised of saw-player/guitarist Andra Zlatescu and banjoist Robin Henry, the pair craft eerie, immersive soundscapes that evoke the mysticism of fog-covered forests and forgotten places. Their debut album, released in October 2023, explores themes of loss, nature's reclamation, and the spectral edge of folklore. Their unique sound—described as “doom-folk,” “folk noir,” and “heavy meadow”—calls upon both Appalachian roots and a darker, atmospheric energy reminiscent of Black Sabbath.
At the heart of Willow Switch’s music is a deep respect for old-world storytelling. Their songs channel tales of lost civilizations, ancient spirits, and nature’s quiet power to reclaim and transform. By fusing folklore with a bold, contemporary edge, Willow Switch offers a fresh and haunting take on the folk tradition—inviting listeners to step beyond the veil and into the wild unknown.
