Séan McCann, acclaimed Canadian musician and founding member of Great Big Sea, is embarking on a unique coast-to-coast tour in 2025 called the Great Big Canadian Road Trip. Fueled by rising U.S. touring costs, strict visa policies, and a desire to connect more deeply with Canadians, McCann is turning his focus inward, performing in towns and cities across Canada—many of which he’s never played before. Rather than chasing charts or fame, this tour is grounded in themes of community, connection, and national pride. His shows will take place in intimate venues like libraries, legion halls, and community centres, bringing heartfelt music and stories to places often overlooked on traditional tour routes.
With just his guitar, voice, and decades of songwriting, McCann’s performances emphasize healing, mental health, and resilience. His decision to avoid U.S. stops reflects a larger statement about sovereignty and cultural values, but his message remains inclusive and unifying. More than a tour, the Great Big Canadian Road Trip is a personal and patriotic journey to bring “music as medicine” to the people who need it most—an effort to restore harmony and hope across the nation, one community at a time.
