Ron Sexsmith is a three-time Juno Award–winning singer-songwriter from St. Catharines, Ontario. Born in 1964, he was inspired by the melodic sounds of artists like Buddy Holly and Elton John, which he heard on the radio and through his mother’s record collection. He began playing guitar at 14 and started seriously writing songs at 21, after the birth of his first child. In 1987, he moved to Toronto to pursue music full-time, performing in clubs at night while working as a courier by day. Though initially passed over by labels, he gained attention with his band, Ron Sexsmith and The Uncool.
Since 1995, Ron has consistently released acclaimed albums and built a dedicated international following. His songs have been covered by major artists including Rod Stewart, Feist, and Stevie Nicks, and he’s toured with legends like Elvis Costello, Coldplay, and John Prine. He’s headlined at renowned venues such as Massey Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Carnegie Hall. In 2025, he’ll make his theatrical composer debut with the Stratford Festival’s production of As You Like It. Ron now lives in Perth County, Ontario, with his wife and continues to write, record, and perform worldwide.
