Rose Cousins’ forthcoming record explores the “conditions of love,” guiding listeners through the complexities and imperfections of human emotion. The acclaimed Nova Scotia–based folk artist returns to her first musical love — the piano — co-producing the album with longtime collaborator Joshua Van Tassel. She describes the instrument as her strongest partner in expressing the emotional depth of her songwriting.
Cousins’ celebrated career includes two JUNO Awards, multiple Canadian Folk Music and East Coast Music Awards, and a Grammy nomination. Her work has earned praise from major outlets such as CBC, NPR, Billboard, and the LA Times, and her evocative songs have appeared in television series including Grey’s Anatomy, Fire Country, Station 19, and Batwoman. She has also shared the stage with notable artists like Patty Griffin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bruce Cockburn, and Aoife O’Donovan.
