    Opera at Western presents Gioachino Rossini’s wonderful comic and romantic opera La Cenerentola. The timeless story of Cinderella, a disadvantaged young lady who becomes a "princess" for one evening and finds her true love as a result. With many twists and turns along the way, this is an opera for all age groups and families. A fun-filled performance with great melodies and many hilarious moments.     Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition - Final Round

    Join us for the final round of the Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition at the Don Wright Faculty of Music. Awarded to any undergraduate or graduate student in the Don Wright Faculty of Music on the basis of performance excellence demonstrated in solo concerto competition, this annual competition has been a highlight for many students over the years. This award was made possible through the generous donation by Maritsa Ateena Brookes, BA'57 to Foundation Western. The winners receive the honour of performing their selection in a public concert with the Western University Symphony Orchestra in the following school year. In addition, a generous monetary award is shared amongst the winner and the two runners-up, received in the fall following the competition.     2023 Fred Pattison Piano Award Winner's Recital

    Join us as 2023 Fred Pattison Piano Award Winner Terrence Wu gives his solo piano winner's recital.  The Fred Pattison Piano Award at the Don Wright Faculty of Music is awarded to the winner of an annual piano competition. In addition to receiving a cash award, the winner will give a public performance the following academic year. Proceeds from the Fred Pattison Award Fund support the annual competition and cash prize. This recital commences this year's competition, with the 2024 final round the next day, and a finalists' masterclass the day after.
