Opera at Western presents Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring, a charming comic opera that is a wonderful story for all ages and families. Albert is a young man who is offered the honour of becoming the "May King" after no one appropriate can be found to be the May Queen in a small community. But there are of course many little problems and characters along the way with issues and relationships that make for an amazing and humorous story. Sung in English. The Fridays @ 12:30 Concert Series presents Serendipity with Cara Lianne McLeod. From singing country in the early 90’s, to performing the role of Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, to teaching and adjudicating, Cara Lianne McLeod’s work has been ever-changing and evolving. Since graduating from Western University (Artist Diploma’03), her life has been a series of serendipitous moments mixed with grief and loss. Cara is excited to be back where her classical and operatic journey began to share some of her most treasured music! Cara McLeod, soprano, is joined by Marianna Chibotar-Rutkevich*, piano for this performance. Dundas St. Centre United Church invites you to their Annual Fall Food & Art Fair at 482 Dundas St. (at Maitland St). Admission is free. On sale will be a variety of artwork, delicious homemade baked goods, preserves, relishes, pickles, floral arrangements, gift baskets, knitwear, quilts, photographs, greeting cards, etc. Also on sale will be a pictorial guide booklet and a calendar for our beautiful Victorian church. There will be something for everyone! The Dundas St. Centre Café will be open during the Fair. Please stop by for a coffee or tea and a sweet snack. Proceeds from this event will help support the outreach programs of our church. Wheelchair accessible.
Kazdoura is a Toronto-based band that serves up Arabic fusion with a modern twist. Equal parts nostalgia and reinvention, their style is a cross-cultural blend of Eastern and Western music that blends old-world Arabic classics with jazz, funk, electro-pop, and disco. This project was founded in the summer of 2020, quickly finding success online, where their videos have collected more than 3 million views on Tik Tok. In June 2022, Kazdoura released their debut EP "Wain", which received support from the Ontario Arts Council, CBC, Danny Hajjar’s popular Sa'alouni El Nas Substack, and featured on Habibi Funk’s popular Spotify playlist.
