Join the community for the opening reception of Bright Things from Dark Places: Dave Schultz. The reception will be held on Thursday, August 7th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Part of Art Crawl Thursday, this free event is open to everyone.

Dave Schultz, a prolific artist from London, Ontario, has spent 20 years tattooing at Hanger 18 and a lifetime devoted to painting. His work is known for its bold, bright images and striking contrasts. Schultz cites inspiration from his mentor Sean Strouse, as well as artists Glen Paradis, James Tex, John Dyer Baizley, and the paintings of Jack Winn and Nicole Schultz.

Bright Things from Dark Places showcases Schultz’s work from 2018 to 2025. During the COVID years, he battled addiction, and some of the pieces in this exhibition reflect the pain and desperation that struggle brought. In the spring of 2024, Schultz overcame his addiction, and his more recent work subtly reflects that transition. Schultz frequently returns to recurring subjects, finding comfort and creative challenge in exploring familiar imagery from new perspectives. His art embodies his belief that no matter how dark life may become, light will shine through for those who let it.
