Growing Chefs! Ontario is a registered charity based in London, Ontario that unites Chefs, growers, educators and community members in children’s food education projects. We have been incorporated since 2008.
Growing Chefs! Ontario offers a variety of Food Education Projects to get kids and communities excited about healthy, wholesome food! Due to the continued Covid lockdown and the closure of our HQ, we have transformed to a digital platform. For resources you can use at home or in your virtual classroom, check out our new Lesson Plans and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
Growing Chefs! HQ operates as a social enterprise and prior to Covid19, profits generated from private events hosted at our HQ directly funded local food education programming. This currently translates to an approximate 50% loss in revenue.
To try to recoup some of those losses, we are beginning to offer virtual events. We began by partnering with local nonprofits to pilot virtual cooking classes and safe meal pick ups; then hosted similar events for corporate sponsors and partners. Now we’d like to offer them to you! Also prior to shutdown, we created a spectacular culinary adventure:
Food, Fire, Feast! This experience allows you to COOK your way through an extensive tour of London and Middlesex County. It is based on our children's programming where participants explore how our food system works through the largest school-based food education project in Ontario! Once we have navigated our way through this pandemic, we hope to offer this tremendously unique experience again.
