Street Scene - Jacqueline Venus at TAP Centre for Creativity on Tuesday, October 20 until Saturday, November 14, 2026, in London Ontario.
About the Exhibition:
This is a documentation of people seen on Dundas Street, London Ontario. It is by no means complete, as it is a constantly changing scene. People enter this space to shop, do business, meet with friends, just pass through, or live.
The images are predominantly candid photos, which are transferred onto canvas using machine stitching, then hand painting with acrylic inks.
About the Artist:
Born on the North Sea coast, Jacqueline Venus came to Canada as a child and travelled across the country, from coast to coast, spending considerable time in libraries, museums, and art galleries, particularly the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. A quiet and shy child, Jacqueline was always observing, looking, reading, and learning.
As a teenager, Jacqueline sewed their own clothing, developing an understanding of colour, line, dimension, draping, and shadows through working with fabric. Their maternal grandfather was an accomplished oil painter, and Jacqueline likes to think that some of his artistic skills have been passed down to them.
Now, as a mature adult, Jacqueline has been able to pursue the artistic practice they had long dreamed of.
Jacqueline Venus is a member of Connections Fiber Artists, Art with Panache, the Canadian Embroiderers’ Guild London, and Studio Art Quilt Associates.
Join them on Tuesday October 20, from 6 PM - 8 PM for an opening reception to view the work and meet the artist. All are welcome to this free event.
Street Scene will be open late for Art Crawl Thursday on November 5 from 6 PM - 9 PM.
