Join Historical Interpreter, Gillian LaBelle, in learning the basic of cross-stitch by creating a small holiday themed ornament. The goal is, for participants to walk away the basic steps of cross-stitch and 4-6 simple hand sewing techniques. The hope is that each participant learns the essentials of cross-stitch so they can continue their newfound handicraft beyond the classroom.
The Harris women of Eldon House were noted for their prolific artistry in the way of sewing, cross stitch, and embroidery. The workshop will begin with a short 15–20-minute presentation on embroidery and textiles of the Victorian Era, highlight some of the unique textiles within the Harris collection.
