Bernice Vincent “Walk Around the Block” | September 20 – October 25, 2025
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 20 from 7 PM – 9 PM, in collaboration with Nuit Blanche London
In the middle gallery, Museum London is presenting a suite of small abstract paintings created between 2001–2012 by Bernice Vincent. Known for incorporating abstraction within landscapes, roadways, and fields, Vincent’s work reflects her deep interest in place.
Vincent (1934–2016) had a unique ability to draw attention to quiet, seemingly insignificant moments from everyday life. From clouds to sidewalks to snippets of landscapes, her careful observations recorded both change and the familiar. Her paintings combine representational landscapes with hard-edge abstraction, using blocks of colour to frame each view. In the largest painting in the exhibition, Travelling Into Winter, a black-and-white winter scene at the centre radiates outward with the full range of colours present in a winter sky and snow, encouraging viewers to notice the beauty in what surrounds them.
The opening reception on September 20 provides an opportunity to experience Vincent’s work in person and celebrate the launch of this exhibition.
