Maureen Jennings: Murdoch and Beyond
Born in the UK and now living in Toronto, Maureen Jennings is best known for her Murdoch Mysteries series, which was adapted to film and television. It is entering its eighteenth season and airs in one hundred and twenty territories worldwide. She is creative consultant for the show and writes a script for each season. She has been nominated several times for the CWC Awards of Excellence. In 2011, she was awarded the Grant Allen Award for contribution to her genre. In 2024, she received the Grand Master Award from Crime Writers of Canada. Her latest series, set in the turbulent pre–WW2 period, features a Private Investigator named Charlotte Frayne. There are five books in the series, the most recent being MARCH ROARS. Her dramatic play, DYING LIKE THIS, was professionally produced by Theatre Roulant in 2024. In this session she shares selected photos from her personal collection along with thoughts on writing. Most recently, she has been appointed to the Order of Canada and received the King’s Coronation Medal.
