    Red! Yellow! Blue! The Meanings of Colour

    This vibrant exhibition will help you discover some of the cultural reasons behind why we interpret primary colours—red, yellow, and blue—the ways we do. Bringing together historical artifacts from the Museum London collection as well as works of art by artists including Lynne Cohen, Greg Curnoe, and Alexander Calder, the exhibition asks how these colours are used to communicate practical information, impart ideas and ideologies, and convey moods and emotions.

    Reilly Knowles: Magic Circle for Earth Communion

    Inspired by regional folk magic traditions and Museum London’s historical collection of log cabin quilts, London-based artist Reilly Knowles presents his quilt Magic Circle for Earth Communion. This quilt, of his own making, takes the form of a cryptic seal symbolizing living in relationship with and learning from the Earth.

    Ron Benner: As the Crow Flies

    As the Crow Flies is an outdoor installation by London, Ontario-based artist, writer, and gardener Ron Benner (b. 1949). Installed on the western side of the Museum, overlooking the Deshkan Ziibi (Thames River), Benner’s work consists of an elliptical or egg-shaped reflecting pool. The pool is surrounded by a rich assortment of plant life, which the artist has cultivated for regeneration every year since 2005. It also supports migrating waterfowl and is an ecosystem for amphibians, insects, and fish.

    Seeing Red: Movie Posters Indigenized by Chippewar

    Jay Soule, working under the pseudonym "CHIPPEWAR," has been combining art and activism since the early 2010s. Using vivid colors, contemporary illustration techniques, and humor, Soule sheds light on topics like Residential Schools, the Doctrine of Discovery, and enduring Indigenous stereotypes. This exhibition brings together a selection of his posters satirizing blockbuster movie classics like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Back to the Future with the aim of exposing and criticizing the enduring legacy of colonialism in Canada.
