Kiwanis Club of Forest City-London is thrilled to present the third and final in the series of prominent Canadian speakers who will share captivating stories of resilience and the indomitable spirit of Canada!
Speaker #3: Ron Gosbee, a non-Indigenous survivor of one of Canada’s most notorious residential schools, St. Anne’s Residential School in Fort Albany, Ontario. His story has been featured on CBC-TV.

As the son of the local Post Manager of the Hudson’s Bay Company, Ron Gosbee (aged 5) was sent to St. Anne’s, 138 km north of Moosonee, with his sister Ruth (aged 8), to get a “good education”. Three years later, during a harrowing escape, Ron and his sister navigated forests, crossed the frozen Albany River, avoiding frostbite and polar bears, to find their way home.
Ron will share his experiences during this dark chapter in Canadian history, and the impact it had on survivors, with the hope it will never happen again.
After the presentation, the room will remain open until 6:00 p.m., allowing participants time to enjoy refreshments (cash bar), mingle and connect with fellow attendees to reflect and discuss the presentation.
Kiwanis Club of Forest City-London raises funds to support local children, youth and family initiatives. Proceeds from the Series 3 event will go to Kiwanis Music Festival of London. Their mission is to celebrate the performing arts by providing an opportunity for artistic expression and personal growth in an encouraging and supportive environment.
