PondFest is the HPBIA’s cornerstone event. Beginning in 2011, PondFest was created as a way to bring together Hyde Park businesses and the surrounding community to kick-start the summer season.
PondFest is focused on unveiling a community piano. Students at Oakridge Secondary School spend their winter semester envisioning an artistic story and then painting it on the piano. During the unveiling, the students can explain their process, and the decisions behind the project. The piano stays in the park throughout the summer, available for the community to play. We aim to build upon the community piano project using London’s new UNESCO City of Music designation.
Following a day of vendors, live music, and fresh food, the HPBIA will put on a light show to close out the night.
For PondFest 2022, we will have food trucks, live bands, kids’ crafts, activity games as well as fire pits for marshmallow roasting. This is in addition to our vendor village of about 40-50 vendors.
