Discover the Eldon House botanical collection through two prominent Victorian-era art and craft techniques.
Join artists Gabriella Solti and Michelle Wilson in an exploration of the Eldon House’s botanical collection through cyanotype and stump embroidery. Guests will get a look at pressed botanical specimens dating back to the early 1800s that were inherited by Lucy Ronalds Harris. They are attributed to her great-grandfather Hugh Ronalds of Brentford, England, and are now part of the Eldon House museum collection. These specimens will serve as reference material for using an age old photography method in making a solar print using the sun, water and air (cyanotype), and inspiration for stump photography.

Additional Information:

  • In the event of poor weather, an alternative will be offered in place of cyanotype (sun prints).
  • Light refreshments will be provided.
  • Please note that the activities will require dexterity.
  • Mask or face covering are mandatory.
  • Social distancing measures of 6 feet will be maintained between staff and fellow visitors.
  • There is no parking on site. There is parking on Fullerton St. across from the Eldon House gardens or in and around Ridout St. N.
  • In order to participate you will be required to answer a few screening questions upon your arrival to ensure the safety of both staff, vendors and fellow participants.
  • Please be aware that this event could be postponed or cancelled depending on pandemic developments.
