Offering 23 unique guest rooms and an extraordinary culinary experience, Idlewyld Inn is known for its unparalleled elegance and historic charm.
The Idlewyld mansion was built in 1878 as a private home for Charles Smith Hyman, a successful businessman and former mayor of London. The Idlewyld was sold in the 1930s to Ernest Moore, who transformed the mansion into luxury apartments. It was also converted to a seniors’ home in the late 1960s by Dr. Charles Mayor.
The Idlewyld was again sold in 1985 and underwent six months of refurbishment before opening as the luxurious Idlewyld Inn in July 1986. The Inn was immediately designated as a four-diamond property by AAA/CAA.
Guests at the Idlewyld can escape the pressures of the day with a spa treatment offered in the privacy of their own guest room or enjoy a delicious meal in the hotel's exquisite dining room. The chefs maintain the tradition of using only the finest locally produced meat, vegetables, fruits and herbs, including AAA Ontario beef, award-winning lamb and pork, and the full bounty of garden and orchard. The impressive wine cellars offer a wide range of vintages and varieties awaiting your selection.
The Idlewyld has undergone many changes over the years, bringing it closer to perfection each and every time! For more information on the Idlewyld, located at 36 Grand Ave., please visit www.idlewyldinn.com or call (519) 433-2891.
