To start off, I would like to say a huge thank you to Budweiser Gardens for this amazing opportunity to see my favourite band in concert.

Wednesday night at Budweiser Gardens, the Hello World Tour stopped in London Ontario to bring down the house with some amazing Canadian talent such as Hedley, Carly Rae Jepsen and Francesco Yates.

Francesco Yates came out first. He’s a Canadian boy from Toronto, Ontario, who plays a combination of pop and blues music. With his unbelievable high notes and funky dance moves, he kept the crowd entertained by singing songs such as “Call” and his major hit “Better To Be Loved,” adding in a few covers. After a set that lasted about fifteen minutes, Francesco left the stage while the crowd prepared for the next performer, Carly Rae Jepsen from Mission, British Columbia.

After a short break, the lights when down once again and Carly hit the stage singing a selection of her Dance/Pop songs. Her performance was very upbeat and full of energy, using the whole stage as her dance floor. She seems to love to dance and brought three of her fans up on stage to sing and dance with her. The crowd got in the act too as they danced along with them. She ended her set singing her two most well known songs “Call Me Maybe” and “I Really Really Like You” with the audience in full voice too.

As the second intermission came to a close, you could start to feel the excitement and electricity building in preparation for the band to make their appearance. The lights went down once again as Hedley’s intro video started to play. The video played for three minutes, made the audience laugh and kept everyone on edge for the moment they had been waiting for; the appearance of Jacob Hoggard, Dave Rosin, Tommy Mac and Chris Crippin of Hedley. The crowd went wild when the boys finally appeared on stage singing “Hello” from their newest album “Hello.” Throughout the show Jacob, the lead singer of the band, entertained the crowd with his usual hilarious banter, even taking a fan’s phone and calling her father in the middle of the show. The fans were more than happy with their selection of songs as they covered tunes from their early days through until today, even debuting a new song. The crowd particularly enjoyed it when they sang their new single “Lose Control.” They closed off the show amidst screaming dancing fans singing along to their last song ‘Anything.”

Overall, Hedley is a concert that the crowd  will never forget, from amazing vocals, inspiring lyrics, to great guitar playing, piano playing and drumming. From beginning to end, the show was amazing, although the moment that really stood out to me was when they took time to thank the fans with an emotional speech, and proceeded to sing one of their older songs,  “Gunnin.” The love and appreciation the band have for their fans is remarkable. After the show, they even took an hour or two to meet, take selfies, sign autographs and chat with the fans waiting outside the venue. Amazing memories will live on in the hearts of the fans who attended the show.
