Summer Clay Camps

London Potters Guild wants children and teens to play in the clay this summer London, ON May 17, 2010 - LONDON POTTERS GUILD is now accepting registration for Summer Clay Camps at the London Clay Art Centre, located at 664 Dundas Street. Half day camps are scheduled in July and a full day camp is scheduled in August. For the Half Day Camps, there is a choice of 9am to noon or 1pm to 4pm, the week of July 26 to 30, 2010. These camps are suitable for kids and teens between the ages of 8 and 14 with all levels of experience welcome. Students will try some of the basic pottery techniques such as pinching, slab building, coiling and even throwing on the potter’s wheel. Students will paint or glaze their pottery. The morning instructor is Penni Stoddart, an experienced potter with the London Potters Guild. She has 20 years teaching experience, including supply teaching with the Thames Valley District School Board. The afternoon instructor is Sandy Harquail. She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics, from Eastern Michigan University and just completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Ontario. The Kids Clay & Art Day Camp will run from August 16 to 20 from 9am to 4pm, with a maximum of 8 participants. This camp is for kids & teens from 9 to 14 years of age. This class will be fun for students with all levels of experience. Students will try many pottery techniques such as pinching, slab building, coiling and the potter’s wheel. Throughout the week students will have fun exploring additional arts related activities, such as drama games. The instructor, Beth Turnbull Morrish is a professional potter with a passion for clay and over 7 years teaching experience with both adults and kids.
