On Thursday, March 11th at 7 pm London’s Multicultural Committee will present a Haiti Relief Concert at Centennial Hall, located at 550 Wellington St.  The concert will showcase a variety of songs and dances representing our city’s diversity.

On Tuesday, January 12th a 7.0 m earthquake occurred with its epicenter between Léogâne and Port-au-Prince leaving hundreds of thousands dead, injured and homeless.  In addition Haiti’s already debilitated social and political infrastructure all but collapsed.

Now that survivors have been rescued and death counts have been tallied; it is time for Haiti to move forward and rebuild. The people of Haiti are struggling to rebuild their homes, their lives and their country.

Haiti’s plight evokes a strong response from London’s ethnic communities. Many of our fellow Londoners have experienced disasters in their homelands and understand the arduous journey of finding the courage to start over again.  They also know the importance of a helping hand when times are tough.

London is home to communities with a variety of faiths and roots in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean, Central and South America who have come together to form the London Multicultural Committee and organize the London Multicultural Haiti Relief concert.

The proceeds from the concert will go to the Canadian Red Cross.  Tickets cost $20.00 and can be purchased at Centennial Hall box office or participating organizations.  For more information, please email lmhrc2010@yahoo.ca.
