After a year long depression brought on by the death of a loved one, Nerenberg began research into what makes us laugh and how much it has to do with verbal and physical communication. He reviews the 1962 laughing epidemic in Tanzania, takes a laughter yoga class in India, and speaks with anthropologists and doctors about triggers for contagious laughter. His conclusion? Laugher is indeed the new crying. (2009, Canada, 65 min)
