TD Sunfest is Canada’s Premier Celebration of the Global Arts, held without admission fee in Downtown London’s beautiful Victoria Park. Every summer since 1995, the non-profit festival has brought together thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds for four days of exemplary music, dance, crafts and cuisine from around the globe. This unique, high profile event features over 30 top professional world music & dance and jazz ensembles based in Canada and abroad. Over the years, it has showcased international headliners from nearly every corner of the planet, including:
Reflecting the opinion of countless fans, Vancouver musician Jonathan Bernard (Tandava) considers TD Sunfest “one of the top three festivals in Canada. The programming is exceptional.”
Thanks to long-term support from major corporate and government funders, such as TD Canada Trust and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism (“Celebrate Ontario”), TD Sunfest continues to build on its phenomenal following by adding new food and craft vendors (totaling more than 250 in 2010!), as well as a range of innovative entertainment options for its 220,000+ annual patrons. This summer (July 08-11, 2010), a new programming component, “Sun of the East: A Showcase of Middle Eastern Music & Dance,” joins existing audience favorites the “WestJet Jazz Village Stage” and “Le village québécois” (the largest free-admission celebration of francophone culture in Ontario).
To continue its dedication to promoting the arts, Sunfest introduced its World Music & Jazz Concert Series. With this concert series, which runs year-round, Sunfest consistently delivers with the international talents it presents and will continue to bring exotic rhythms to London to be experienced by all!
